Rebuilding a pension application in hexagonal architecture
Technical Lead and Java Tech Lead at La Cipav: redesign of a pension application with 8 developers, hexagonal architecture, Java 17 / Spring Boot, Spring Batch and TDD.
The context
La Cipav, a pension fund, is redesigning a pension application. In parallel, a separate scope of applications stays in maintenance with a team of 4 developers.
My role
Technical Lead and Java Tech Lead from March 2022 to March 2024, on the redesign (team of 8 developers) and the maintenance scope (4 developers). Workshops with business teams: requirements gathering, business rules and detailed functional specifications.
What was delivered
Application bootstrap and definition of the hexagonal architecture (Ports & Adapters). Design of REST APIs, Spring Batch processes, data models and interfaces. Data migrations, acceptance testing, defect resolution and optimisation of batch processing.
Quality & security
Code reviews and TDD; technical coaching of developers and software quality tracked with SonarQube, GitLab and Jenkins.
